About
Marylebone Theatre is an off-West End venue near Baker Street, presenting itself as a place for West End-quality work in an intimate setting. Its own account says it has received the Olivier Award for Best Family Show and the Off West End award for Best Production, giving it a more specific reputation than a generic local theatre (About Us).
The programme is broad rather than confined to straight theatre: the venue currently organises its listings across theatre, spoken word, community and family programming (Marylebone Theatre). Its community role is unusually visible. The building hosts the New Actors Centre, with regular acting courses, three studio rooms and masterclasses for trained actors and people with a performing background (Participate); it is also home to resident community activity from DreamArts and the London Phoenix Choir (Participate).
In character, this is a compact, multi-use arts venue rather than a large receiving house: the operator describes the main theatre as intimate, while the surrounding programme extends into training, youth work and community music. Locally, it sits just off Baker Street, a short stroll from Baker Street according to the venue (Marylebone Theatre; About Us).
Access
Marylebone Theatre has step-free access. Most front-of-house areas are accessible, although the mezzanine and raised seating area in the café are exceptions. There is an accessible toilet with baby-changing facilities on the ground floor.
The auditorium has one wheelchair space, measuring 81cm wide by 87cm deep, with an adjacent companion seat. Access bookings can be made for any seat. The venue provides an induction loop on the T setting, compatible with most personal hearing aids.
Assistance dogs are welcome and must have a free seat booked; the theatre recommends requesting an aisle seat. A carer ticket can be free of charge, and the theatre accepts Access Cards and Nimbus Cards. To arrange access seating or discuss requirements, call the Box Office on 020 7723 7984 (Monday–Friday, 11:00–16:00) or email access@marylebonetheatre.com with the performance date, time and seating preferences.
The theatre says that audio-described, BSL and captioned performances are listed for each production; contact the access email with questions. For full details, see the official access information. Please confirm specific needs with the venue before visiting.

History
Marylebone Theatre opened in September 2022, in the ground floor of Rudolf Steiner House at 35 Park Road. The venue’s own account does not provide an architect, an earlier theatre name, or a detailed building history, so those points cannot be filled in reliably. (About Us; FAQs)
Its opening-era history is nevertheless unusually easy to date through the theatre’s production archive. Dmitry, directed by Tim Supple, was billed as a premiere and ran from 29 September to 5 November 2022. (Dmitry) Eugene O’Hare’s The Dry House was a world premiere, running 31 March–6 May 2023. (The Dry House) The White Factory, a world-premiere collaboration led by writer Dmitry Glukhovsky and director Maxim Didenko, ran 14 September–4 November 2023. (The White Factory)
The White Factory later won the 2024 OffWestEnd award for Best Production; the theatre says its creative team triumphed at the ceremony on 25 February. (award announcement) In 2025, Brainiac Live! won the Olivier Award for Best Family Show. (Olivier announcement) The current team page lists Alexander J Gifford as Artistic Director and Hannah Henderson as Executive Director. (team)
Before you go
Arrive with some time to spare: the theatre says its doors open 30 minutes before the performance, although this can change for a particular performance. Latecomers are admitted only at management’s discretion, at a suitable point; you may have to wait in the foyer until a latecomer point or interval. Re-entry is also only at a suitable point.
There is no cloakroom, and the venue advises against bringing suitcases or large bags because they may not be admitted. Security searches are a condition of entry and may cover clothing, bags and other items on entry and exit. Food and drink bought elsewhere should not be brought into the theatre; the venue says customers with specific medical requirements should speak to management on arrival.
The bar/café serves hot and cold drinks, including alcohol, plus snacks. The café is open 10am–4pm Tuesday–Saturday; the theatre bar opens one hour before a performance and during the interval. The venue does not describe an interval-ordering service.
There is no single venue-wide show age minimum: the FAQ directs visitors to each production for age information. Separately, babies and children under four are not admitted unless a production is specifically advertised as suitable for them, and under-16s must be accompanied by someone over 18. Photography and filming are not permitted in the auditorium, but foyer photographs are allowed.
